|  CARACTERÍSTICAS Y PROCEDENCIA DEL AZUL RUSO Si somos sinceros, la verdad que
no tenemos demasiada información sobre la procedencia de esta raza, pero si podemos
decir, que lo primeros AZULES DE RUSIA, fueron localizados en ARCANGEL (norte
de Rusia). Se le conoció como gato ARCANGEL por el lugar de procedencia.
Se
tiene información, de que los primeros AZUL RUSO fueron llevados a INGLATERRA
y al norte de EUROPA, sobre el año 1860. Se cree, que esta raza son descendientes
del gato real de los ZARES DE RUSIA y que también la Reina VICTORIA de Inglaterra
tenía como su mascota.
La primera exposición en la que participó, fué
en 1871 en el PALACIO DE CRISTAL (Inglaterra) y compitió como gato ARCANGEL
con todos los demás gatos de color AZUL.
Ya en el 1912, el AZUL RUSO compitió
en una categoría exclusiva de la raza.
Desde su descubrimiento, hasta después
de la segunda guerra mundial, los criadores ESCANDINAVOS e INGLESES,
trabajaron diferentes líneas de sangre, que dieron origen al AZUL RUSO actual.
CARÁCTER.- El Azul Ruso, es un gato, afectuoso,
inteligente jovial y muy juguetón, el cual es fácilmente diferente de otras razas.
Una de las cualidades más sobresalientes, es que se le puede enseñar, fácilmente
desde muy pequeño a comportarse y a que distinga lo que debe hacer
o no hacer.
El pelaje del AZUL RUSO, se distingue del resto de
otros azules, por su hermoso manto, espeso y plateado que cuando le da
la luz del sol expone toda su belleza en la punta de cada uno de sus pelos.
Sus extremos, patas, y nariz son de un plata
más claro que el resto del cuerpo.
Sus ojos almendrados y de color verde esmeralda,
son de una belleza impresionante.
La CABEZA, debe ser en forma de CUÑA con
unas orejas grandes, rectas y anchas.
Son gatos que se adaptan fácilmente
a su nuevo hogar, son limpios, y sus expresiones sumamente delicadas, hasta el
extremo de que su voz es tan dulce, que parece que lloran.
EL AZUL RUSO,
es una buena elección para la vida moderna de hoy en día; por su carácter poco
exigente, se adapta perfectamente a estar horas sólo en casa y cuando sus dueños
regresan, es el primero que está detrás de la puerta, para expresarle su gran
alegría por el regreso, eso sí desde ese momento, no se separa de ti y tiene que
estar donde tu estés, observando todo lo que haces.
El AZUL RUSO, no necesita
muchos cuidados con su pelaje, pero sí es importante, peinarlo con un peine de
púas muy cerradas y finas y por supuesto desde muy pequeño, para que se acostumbre
y lo vea como un placer. Los baños deben ser con una frecuencia de uno al mes
en época normal y durante la muda cada 15 días, ya que esto facilita que
se limpie del pelo suelto y el cambio sea más rápido.
El precio de un gato
AZUL RUSO, varía en relación a sus líneas de sangre o al palmarés que figure en
su PEDIGRÍ, pero no por eso tiene por que ser mejor o peor.

PROFIL AND ORIGIN OF THE RUSSIAN BLUE Little is known about the origin
of the Russian Blue, however, many believe the Russian
Blue is a natural breed originating from the Archangel Isles (in northern Russia). It is believed that they were brought by sailors
from the Archangel Isles to England and Northern Europe in the 1860s. Rumor also has the Russian
Blue as a descendant of the Royal Cat of the Russian Czars
and as a favored pet of Queen Victoria.
First shown in 1871 at the Crystal Palace in England as the Archangel Cat, the original Russian Blue
competed in a class for all blue cats.
It was not until 1912 that the Russian
Blue was given a class of its own.
From its early origins until after World
War II, English and Scandinavian breeders worked to develop the foundation bloodlines
for the contemporary Russian Blue.
CHARACTER.-
The Russian Blue is a friendly cat, intelligent, cheerful and very playful, absolutly
different than the other races. Those attracted by the physical beauty of the
Russian Blue find the disposition of these unassuming cats equally appealing.
One of the most outstanding features of the Russian Blue is a short, dense
coat of an even, bright blue color with each hair dipped
in silver. This silver tipping gives the Russian a silvery sheen and lustrous
appearance that can best be appreciated in natural light. The density of the coat
causes it to stand out from the body and allows patterns to be traced in the coat
which remain until you smooth them away. Legs, feet and nose are more silver than the rest of the body.
The emerald green eyes are set in a lovely
"seven-planed" head and beautiful almond-shaped.
The HEAD,
most be medium wedge and with rather large and wide at the base ears.
Russians
Blues are quiet, clean cats who are playful and loving companions. Sensitive to
the mood of the house, Russians will ‘clown' to quiet a crying baby or sit patting
your face to chase away the blues.
A Russian Blue is a good choice for the
modern home because their undemanding nature fits perfectly into today's busy
schedules. Despite their shy nature, Russians are devoted and
quite affectionate towards their loved ones. They will entertain themselves if
left alone for the day and be a contented companion upon owners return. They are
very intelligent and have been reported to open doors and teach their owners to
fetch.
The Russian requires a minimum of grooming with periodic nail clipping and a coat
that can be kept looking good by frequent petting and an occasional combing. Many
Russians seem to enjoy being combed or brushed as it allows them additional time
with their owners. They shed very little unless going through a coat change in
warm weather and each 15 days.
Pricing on Russians Blues usually depends
on type, applicable markings and bloodlines distinguished by the PEDIGREE, but for
this not be a good or bad cat.
